It was not until 2024 that the memorial was enhanced with the distinctive “Keystone ” insignia of the 28th U.S. Infantry Division, in order to also honour those U.S. soldiers who had defended Hoscheid with tenacious resistance during the early days of the Battle of the Bulge — even though they were subsequently forced to withdraw due to dwindling ammunition and fuel reserves. The monument thus now also pays tribute to the achievements of the 28th U.S. Infantry Division, whose defensive battles in the villages of the Luxembourg Ardennes decisively slowed the German advance toward Belgium and thereby contributed to the rescue of the city of Bastogne. 

A “Remember US” plaque at the Place de la Libération in Hoscheid commemorates the battles fought by the 28th U.S. Infantry Division and the 5th U.S. Infantry Division. By scanning a QR code, visitors can also watch an interview with local eyewitness Fernand Schmit, who recounts his childhood memories from the time of the Battle of the Bulge in Hoscheid. 

Every year, the municipality of Parc Hosingen, together with the residents of Hoscheid, commemorates the military and civilian victims of the Battle of the Bulge during a traditional “Night Vigil” ceremony held at Place de la Libération in the early hours of the morning on 16 December 1944.
