This 4.6 kilometer walk through Reuver and its surroundings focusses on the history of Reuver during the Second World War. Along the way there are different stories to be told and different points of interest to visit. From war time diaries to landmarks and from a tank ditch to a holy monastry. The history in this town is as versatile as it gets.
In November 1944, Reuver had to endure artillery fire when the Allies reached the west bank of the river Meuse. Reuver was targeted because that's where German troops were positioned. After weeks of shelling and being hit by multiple strikes, the Reuver church tower collapsed on January 18, 1945. The spire gave way and the church roof was severely damaged by shellfire.
